April weather in Salzburg
Each season and each month has its own unique charm. For me, April embodies a sense of anticipation for the soon coming summer. The snow slowly melts in the valleys, filling the air with a rich, fragrant scent.
Crocuses and magnolias burst into bloom, bringing vibrant colors to the landscape, and this unpredictable month of spring can reach temperatures of +20C during the day.
Austria's April, however, reveals its unpredictable nature of the weather of all seasons. There's a saying that captures this perfectly: April does what it wants or April macht was er will! Just when you think it's time to put away your winter clothes, the frost returns and forces you to bundle up again.
In April it is possible to make the first hikes in the mountains at lower altitudes. Deep snow in the mountains lasts until end-May, after which most routes can be considered passable. It's also a great month for long-distance biking.
In general, this is a month when there is an influx of energy. Therefore, for those who like active recreation and prefer less touristic time, I recommend to visit Austria and especially Salzburg in April.
